Form and Movement
Module 3

During this module, our initial task involved choosing an insect to investigate and delve deeper into its characteristics. Personally, I directed my attention towards the stinger of a honey bee. I was particularly intrigued by the process through which the stinger attaches itself to human flesh, releasing venom, and ultimately detaching, leaving the stinger embedded in the skin. By studying the honey bee's stinger, I aimed to unravel the intricacies of its design and understand the physiological mechanisms that enable such a unique defensive mechanism. The bee's ability to deploy its stinger as a weapon while sacrificing its own life in the process fascinated me, and I sought to comprehend the underlying mechanisms behind this behavior.
